Groundskeeper- Martha's Vineyard

 

A privately-owned property in Martha’s Vineyard is seeking a hard-working and dependable Groundskeeper to assist with the management and maintenance of the grounds, trails, roads and structures. The ideal candidate is professional, responsible, detail-oriented, honest and a team player - the ability to work within a team setting where “no job is too big or small”. This role reports directly to the Property Manager and supports them in the day-to-day and seasonal duties associated with the management of the property and grounds. The position requires work schedule flexibility as needed, to include evenings and weekends.   

 

Responsibilities 

  • Oversee onsite contractors working on repair, maintenance work and landscaping projects
  • Check for damage/security every morning on arrival at property
  • Secure the property at the end of each day/shift 
  • Handle any repairs or maintenance and report to the Property Manager anything that is beyond capacity
  • Responsible for general upkeep and care of the property’s grounds including lawns, trails, stonewalls, plantings, outdoor furnishings, animal facilities
  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance to the property’s fixtures and equipment
  • Assist household staff with projects and errands
  • Maintain pools and spa, tennis court, and athletic grounds
  • Animal care which includes cleaning, feeding and maintenance of laying hens; cleaning, feeding and maintenance of dairy goats; dog walking when needed
  • Maintain a record of the equipment maintenance and coordinate and help oversee more extensive or specialized mechanical work
  • Seasonal mowing, leaf cleanup, snow removal and plowing
  • Clean and upkeep automobiles/vehicles, boats

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma  
  • 3+ years’ experience in landscape building and maintenance (plumbing, electric, HVAC,

caretaking)

  • Experience in operating all equipment associated with grounds keeping (mowers, tractors, chainsaws, skid steers, excavators, leaf blowers, line trimmers, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills – both verbally and written 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Being able to work alone or as part of a team 
  • Ability to multitask and exhibit flexibility 
  • Proficient in computer programs, including Microsoft Office 

 

Schedule: Full-time. Flexibility for weekends and evening a MUST.
